Scouts On Parade

Dear all, just to say that this Sunday the scouts and guides will be marching to and from the church in memory of local celeb and scout founder Enoch “Baden” Powell. It’s two hundred years since Mr Powell started the scout movement in his garden shed and in celebration we are honoured to have head of the scouts Bob Gedof leading the parade.

See you Sunday. Thanks Tony Grimsby, Group Scout Leader

Lost Woggle

woggle

Thank you to all who have been utilising the skills of our scouts and guides this bob-a-job week, but i must remind you there is a thin line between gainful employment and exploitation. Also, please keep an eye out for a lost woggle. If found please return the scout hut or pop through my letter box. Yours Tony Grimsby, Group Scout Leader

Rope Springs Eternal

Just a reminder to parents and guardians that there won’t be a meeting of the girl guides tomorrow evening due to the pointless local elections commandeering the scout hut (with only 12 weeks notice I may add). It is most inconvenient as the girls were practicing for their abseiling and bungee badges and we’ve now had to pack all the gear away, which took myself and Tawny Owl an age last night (why we couldn’t have left ropes and crampons hanging from the hut roof God alone knows. Health and safety has gone completely mad). Ruth Freshford. Brown Owl. Beckworth Guides.

Don’t Forget Bob-A-Job

Dear all, please remember next week is Bob-A-Job week, and the cubs, scouts, brownies and guides will be calling door to door seeking gainful employment for money. I must stress that payment is required for all works carried out. We want to avoid last years fiasco whereby the whole of The Beckworth Brown Otter troupe was misappropriated for 10 days at a local sweatshop, and only found thanks to the bravery of the fire brigade. We are still awaiting payment for the troupe’s time and work completed pre-blaze. Still, wanting to find a silver lining amongst the debacle, all 33 boys did get their sewing and fire safety badges.

Thanks Tony Grimsby, Group Scout Leader
